Knowledge of using carbon dioxide cylinders

2024-12-26

There are many uses for gas cylinders, and there are many types of cylinders. Different types of products have different methods of use and precautions for use. In order to ensure the safety of the use of carbon dioxide cylinders, we need to use them strictly according to their methods of use. Next, let's take a look at its methods of use and precautions!

Method of use

Before use, check whether the connection parts are leaking. You can apply soap liquid for inspection and adjust it to be leak-free before conducting the experiment.

When using, first turn on the main switch of the cylinder counterclockwise, observe the reading of the high-pressure gauge, record the total carbon dioxide pressure in the high-pressure bottle, and then turn the pressure adjustment screw of the low-pressure gauge clockwise to compress the main spring to open the valve. In this way, the imported high-pressure gas enters the low-pressure chamber after throttling and reducing pressure from the high-pressure chamber, and leads to the working system through the outlet. After use, first turn off the main switch of the cylinder clockwise, and then loosen the pressure reducing valve counterclockwise.

Precautions

1. Prevent the use temperature of the cylinder from being too high. The cylinder should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources (such as sunlight, heating, and fire), and the temperature should not exceed 31°C to prevent the liquid CO2 from increasing in temperature and expanding in volume to form high-pressure gas, which may cause explosion.

2. The cylinder must not be placed horizontally. If the cylinder is placed horizontally, when the pressure reducing valve is opened, the CO2 liquid that rushes out will quickly gasify, which may cause the gas pipe to burst and a large amount of CO2 to leak.

3. The pressure reducing valve, joints, and pressure regulator are properly connected and leak-free, undamaged, and in good condition.

4. CO2 must not be overfilled. The filling amount of liquefied CO2 should not exceed 75% of the cylinder volume in temperate climates and 66.7% in tropical climates.

5. Old cylinders should be regularly inspected for safety. Cylinders that exceed the safety specification period can continue to be used only after passing the pressure test.
